HANNOVER MESSE true to form as premier technology expo

* Superior international appeal and innovative power
* Core focus on energy efficiency in industrial processes
* New Wind tradeshow
* Top-notch products and high tech on show by Partner Country Korea

Hannover. It's only three weeks to go until the start of HANNOVER MESSE 2009. The fair runs from 20 to 24 April and features energy efficiency in industrial processes as its keynote theme and Korea as its official Partner Country. The organizers at Deutsche Messe are hosting 6,150 exhibitors from a total of 61 nations. "In other words, we've managed to equal the peak performance of 2007 and 2008 despite the difficult economic climate," Deutsche Messe's Board Chairman Wolfram von Fritsch commented at the kick-off press conference on Tuesday in Hannover, Germany.

At an impressive 224,800 square meters (just under 2,420,000 sq. ft) of display space, the fair's 13 flagship tradeshows will fill all available halls to capacity. "We're delighted to report that the upcoming HANNOVER MESSE is also excelling in terms of its internationality," remarked Dr. von Fritsch, who went on to point out that the exhibiting firms would be using HANNOVER MESSE to give the global economy a decisive push along the road to recovery.

Exhibitors will be showcasing products and innovations from the fields of industrial automation, motive power engineering, energy, industrial subcontracting and R&D. For added value, the rich array of exhibits will be complemented by a great many forums, conferences, seminars and workshops. Germany's President Horst Köhler and South Korea's Prime Minister Seung-Soo Han will be officiating at the Opening Ceremony on 19 April - the evening before the gates open on HANNOVER MESSE. And on the first day of the show, Dr. Angela Merkel will be on hand to take the traditional Chancellor's Tour of the grounds.

A highly international star
...
HANNOVER MESSE continues to attract a great many exhibitors from abroad, thus underscoring the show's international importance and appeal. Its exhibits and special displays covers the entire valued-added chain, featuring industrial technology and solutions from around the world. Apart from Germany, HANNOVER MESSE'S biggest exhibitor contingents come from Italy (500 exhibitors), China (480), South Korea (210), Turkey (180), India (129), Taiwan (127), Switzerland (125), France (113), North America (95), Spain (85) and the Netherlands (84). Deutsche Messe's overseas trade fair activities and annual Partner Country showcase have also made major contributions to the internationalization of HANNOVER MESSE and other fairs staged by Deutsche Messe at its home base in Hannover.

Energy efficiency front and center

The core theme featured throughout HANNOVER MESSE 2009 is energy efficiency in the context of industrial processes. All industries are under pressure both to offer energy-efficient products and processes and to use resources efficiency in the creation of their products and processes. This is why the all-important theme of energy efficiency resonates across a great many displays throughout the 13 tradeshows that make up HANNOVER MESSE, with a special concentration of displays dedicated to this topic in Hall 26. The "Energy Efficiency in Industrial Processes" pavilion focuses on concrete energy-saving applications and solutions and features reference projects and a model production plant. It includes live demonstrations of how intelligent solutions in industrial processes can not only save time and money, but can also prolong machinery service life. Visitors will enjoy added orientation thanks to a special "Tourguide" flyer highlighting all participating exhibitors with products and innovations which can help in boosting energy efficiency.

Mobility is a very hot topic in industry today, and HANNOVER MESSE has it covered with two themed pavilions. One aspect which will figure prominently is the importance of hybrid technologies for forward-looking drive solutions. The E-MOTIVE pavilion in Hall 24 - at the heart of the Motion, Drive and Automation (MDA) show - features innovative, trailblazing drive solutions for motor vehicles, mobile machinery and electric drivetrain components. On a similar note, environmentally friendly, sustainable mobility is the focus of the CLEAN MOVES pavilion in Hall 13 at the Energy show. The wealth of technology solutions on display includes electric, gas-powered and hybrid drives, battery and storage technologies, lightweight carbon-fiber construction, logistics, biodiesel, ethanol, vegetable oils, renewable hydrogen and synthetic fuels.

Premiere of Wind tradeshow

The Energy show at HANNOVER MESSE is unique throughout the world thanks to its simultaneous, side-by-side coverage of conventional and regenerative technologies. Here, every link in the value-added energy supply chain is fully addressed, from generation to transmission and distribution. With the launching of Wind in 2009, HANNOVER MESSE's coverage of the energy complex will now be more complete than ever, and the international wind power sector and prominent industry associations have expressed great approval with this development. The very first Wind will feature some 156 exhibitors and fill well over 6,000 square meters (over 64,500 sq. ft) of display space. The global wind industry is booming, with annual growth of 20 percent predicted for the coming years. Every two years as of 2009, "Wind" at HANNOVER MESSE will provide a prime showcase and one-stop shop for subcontractors, plant manufacturers and vendors, power station operators, energy utilities and interested consumers.

Partner Country Korea

The Republic of Korea is the official Partner Country at HANNOVER MESSE 2009. A world leader in mechanical and plant engineering, IT and the automotive industry, Korea is committed to further strengthening its market standing in Europe. The country will be represented in Hannover by 210 exhibitors taking part in virtually every section of the show, with high-tech displays showing the nation's notable strengths in industrial automation, energy technology, drive technologies and industrial subcontracting.

TectoYou plus Job & Career for next-generation engineers and career advancement opportunities

This year, TectoYou will be in its third season at HANNOVER MESSE. The aim of the initiative is to encourage high school students to consider careers in engineering and other technological fields, while giving them a close look at the many exciting job options available. Over 150 busloads of young people from all over Germany will be traveling to Hannover, where a team of more than 60 trained guides will take registered groups on full-day tours of the show. Each tour centers on a specific theme, guiding the students to a range of HANNOVER MESSE highlights chosen in line with their interests. There will be plenty of opportunities for the young people to talk to industry experts and gain first-hand information on career opportunities. At the well-established Job & Career Market in Hall 6, exhibitors get together with prospective employees to explore their options. This powerful recruitment center gives companies a chance to impress talented candidates with their strengths while providing a wealth of information, orientation and of course actual offers for job-seekers.

This year's HANNOVER MESSE industrial fair features the annual INTERKAMA+, Factory Automation, Industrial Building Automation, Digital Factory, Subcontracting, Energy, Power Plant Technology, MicroTechnology, and Research & Technology tradeshows plus the biennial Motion, Drive & Automation, SurfaceTechnology, ComVac and Wind shows.
